12. Initial-letter Contractions
- Are subject to the general rules for the use of contractions.
- May be used as parts of words only when they retain their original sounds.

- Special rules for certain part-word contractions:
- The contractions one is used whenever the letters o and n fall in the same syllable, regardless of the pronunciation.

- The contraction some is used only when it retains the sound of the word some, and where its letters form a complete syllable in the base word.
