If you are taking this course as your final exam, then you know about the BRL: Braille through Remote Learning Program! If you are a visitor here to the online version of the National Literary Braille Competency Test, then a few words about BRL. BRL is a three-year project, funded by the U.S. Department of Education and others, to investigate the appropriate and authentic use of Internet and computing technologies to deliver braille instruction to teachers, social work professionals, school and rehab counselors, parents, and any other person interested in developing braille skills. The program involves a series of three courses: Introduction to Braille, Braille Transcribers Course, and a course called Specialized Codes.
All courses are free of charge, are open for business 24 hours a day, and look to provide a solid novice-to-expert educational opportunity in braille instruction.
