    Superscripts, Subscripts, And Level Indicators

A mathematical expression can contain symbols placed aboved or below the normal baseline of writing. Superscripts appear above the baseline; subscripts appear below the baseline. Since it is not practical to write on different levels in braille, level indicators are used to identify the levle of a superscript in relation to the baseline of writing.
